New Wave of Union Organizing Necessitates Employee Education by Keith Peraino

Updated: Feb 3, 2022

Like everything else, union organizing is evolving. Over the past year, we have see them utilize various emotional aspects of workers lives as tools to organize. At the end of the process, workers usually have little to no knowledge on what the union is, what their rules are and what or how the collective bargaining process is. More times than not, workers are left paying into an organization they were ill informed about or left months and years later “stuck” in the process of a stand still while negotiations are taking place.

Over the past year, we now see clearly how organizers have infiltrated protests and movements. In the picture, there is a clear path that they are utilizing the BLM protests and movements to organize workers and we saw this again as organizers flood the “no vaccine mandate” rally in DC. The leading union or organization of this infiltration into protests and workers lives is the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW), aka the “wobblies,” a self proclaimed Marxist union. Now with ties to the SEIU, UNITE HERE and other major unions, the IWW works with the DSA (Democratic Socialists of America) to create emotional issues for the workers throughout the USA, especially at fast food chains, bookstores, donut shops, etc….

Tomake it very clear here, ones stance on politics is irrelevant to this movement. The unions do not see red or blue as in democrat or republican, they only see an end result of green (money). In that respect, the unions fear employees being told anything about unionization or the process. They quickly label anyone who educates as a union buster, any member of corporate or management a union buster, extra help in the workplace is union busting, etc… I think we get the picture. The real question employees have to ask, is why the opposition to education. Why can’t employees collectively take all information and make an informed decision?

Wehave watched many Starbucks fall victim to this game over the past couple of months, Half Priced Books, Voodoo Donuts, Burgerville, Jack in the Box, Whataburger, RaceTrac, Taco Bell, Red Lobster and so many more…. There is no limits on what they will unionize and create emotional issues. NYC strippers have begin a union movement as well as inmates in our prison systems. At Burgerville, where they unionized 5 stores by the end of 2019, they have failed to mention there is not 1 contract yet, still in negotiations.
