The brain chains are what the brain expects and then your body expects it. With this anticipated expectation, there is already an anticipated response. What does this mean? It means the repetition of the same habits create your brain to anticipate the same reactions. For example, if we go to the gym 4 or 5 days per week and perform the same reps with the same machines and same amount of weights, our brain expects that weekly. Our body becomes habitual. Break the brain Chain....
When you get into the gym, change the machines weekly or bi weekly. Change the amount of reps. Only your brain stops you at 8 to 12 reps. Why not go to 15 reps? Why not move up 5 pounds? Why not vary the type of exercise every 2 weeks?
I often hear that even during a simple bench press, "...the barbell has to hit the chest for a full range motion." Who said that this was the only way? Why not go only 3/4 the way down adn not lock out at the top? This can increase the tension on the muscle greatly. The does not mean the full range motion is something to abandon, but why not vary it and do both.
When I train people or give that motivational speech, I ensure that no one knows what the workout session will bring. Their brain is thinking about the last bicep workout and then I change the exercises or I make it a drop set day. Their faces look surprised which means their muscles are about to be surprised. Shock the muscle. Break the chains.
This can be used in every facet of life. Change is not a bad thing. Change can lead to good things. It enables your creativity and it enables you to think and act outside that box. It enables you to break the chains and unleash the full potential.
